1.POLICIES

Hotel Canyamel Classic is a mirror that reflects the harmony, purity and energy of Canyamel. An oasis of calm and sophistication where the body rests and enjoys; a pioneering management in sustainability to take care of the land and the people; a team dedicated to the happiness of its clients.
We are aware that our tourist activity takes place in a privileged environment. For this reason, we have implemented a management system based on sustainability standards in our establishment, always bearing in mind our commitments to environmental conservation, child protection, respect for workers' rights and the promotion of the local economy, without forgetting the attentive and personalised treatment of our clients.
We love and care for this land and its people. To this end, we work every day on a sustainability programme that promotes environmentally friendly practices that reduce our negative impact on the environment and contribute to the development of the local community.

Following the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, progress in sustainability has been directly affected. The corporate reporting launched at the end of 2021, in parallel with the application to join the GLOBAL PACT, has meant for MZ Hotels to mark a new line following the strategy of the United Nations Global Compact 2021-2023, which will promote a more efficient measurement of the sustainability impact of the hotels of its group through new indicators, which will serve to analyse its real progress in relation to the Ten Principles and the SDGs.

The Ten Principles and the Sustainable Development Goals are MZ Hotels' two frameworks. Companies must operate responsibly by integrating the Ten Principles into their strategies and operations, and also take action to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.

2.STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT WITH SDG – UNITED NATIONS GLOBAL COMPACT NETWORK

MZ Hotels is firmly committed to the 2030 Agenda and to the fulfilment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to the core activities of the organisation. Compliance with the SDGs is also linked to the implementation of the ten principles of the Global Compact in the business sector, as both frameworks are cross-cutting in their aim to build more sustainable societies and markets.

Our commitment extends to all stakeholders and throughout our value chain: employees, customers, business partners and suppliers with whom we work.
On the other hand, we also include specific actions and projects that contribute to the United Nations framework, in order to make visible all the work we do based on our commitment.

In September 2015, the United Nations General Assembly approved the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and with it, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a global call to take action to end the planet's major problems; end poverty and inequality, achieve gender equality and access to decent work for all, provide access to health services and adequate education, protect the environment and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. The SDGs are the new main framework for contributing to sustainable development, composed of 17 Goals and 169 targets to be met by 2030, and is addressed to all actors on the planet; governments, businesses and civil society have been called to action to contribute to these global goals.
In this new framework, business plays a leading role for the first time. The United Nations recognises this role of the private sector, conceiving companies not only as actors that generate wealth, but also development at a global level.

The SDGs provide companies with a universal and coherent framework to guide their contributions to sustainable development. Organisations, depending on their sector and business model, should identify which goals and targets they can influence and begin to undertake activities and operations to contribute to sustainable development, locally and internationally.

The Global Compact is the initiative mandated by the United Nations to bring the SDGs to the private sector, where they help us to:
Aligning the SDGs with your organisation's core business.
Your organisation's best practices and public commitments to the SDGs.
The business case for sustainable development is strong: it generates new business opportunities, promotes innovation and enhances reputation, and the SDGs improve the relationship between organisations and their employees, customers, investors and other stakeholders, increasing operational efficiency, motivation and talent retention. Companies must begin to act to realise the business opportunities through:
Incorporating more sustainable business models: such as inclusive business, disruptive innovation that is sustainable or circular economy strategies. Models that are not only profitable, but also contribute directly to the SDGs.

Develop sectoral and cross-sectoral plans: work together to exchange good practices, examples and experiences related to the SDGs between companies in the same sector. It is also advisable to exchange experiences between groups of companies from different sectors to gain an overview of SDG work.
Innovate with products and services that contribute to the SDGs: study, within the company's business strategies, new innovative products and services that can contribute to the achievement of the SDGs and invest in their research and development.
